I really believe what you eat and drink has a huge impact on how you age, as well as how you look and feel. I've always been into healthy eating, but these days, I try and make that extra effort into maintaining my balanced diet because it just makes me feel energised and keeps my skin hydrated. Many of you know about all the gut issues I've had to deal with over the years, which is why I often like to make restorative juices and smoothies that are easy to digest and absorbed by the body.
There is now a growing body of research that is discovering the link between nutrition and skin ageing. Vitamins, fatty acids and proteins have been shown to promote skin health.
When people ask me about my skin regime or tell me they are too time poor to cook healthy food at home, I always share a simple recipe that only has 3 ingredients, so it only takes a few minutes to make.
I simply combine Healthy Chef Protein with our Green Smoothie and a banana. All you need to do is then blend with your choice of liquid (almond or pumpkin seed milk is my fave...) and some ice. You can also boost it with 1/4 avocado or some chia seeds for healthy fats.
We all try to live healthy lifestyles, but at the end of the day, you still want your food to taste great and have all the health benefits. This is why I designed my products in the first place....combining our protein and green smoothie blend makes it a healthy and nourishing meal, that boosts my metabolism, balances my blood sugars and makes me feel great!
ADD PROTEIN + ANTIOXIDANTS
I aim for 20 - 30 grams of protein in the morning, which kickstarts my metabolism, stabilises my blood sugar and increases my energy and focus. Protein is also the key nutrient to support ageless glowing skin and support lean muscle.
What I love about our Green Smoothie is how it makes me feel after drinking it. I designed it to be simply mixed into water as my green smoothie on-the-go... or blended with our protein and dairy-free milk for a more substantial light meal. Green Smoothie is a simple way of getting your antioxidants with probiotics in one glass.
I like to blend with around 1 cup of home made almond milk which boosts essential amino acids and vitamin E for healthy skin and protection against free radicals. Adding a banana adds potassium and chromium that balances blood sugars and creates a luscious creamy taste. For that little extra, a spoonful of avocado boosts omega-3 and B vitamins for energy.
