Whether you enjoy a cup of tea with some morning teacake or to unwind after a long day, the benefits of drinking tea go beyond the ritual of savouring the moment.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TEA
In fact, I have copious amounts of tea because it’s an absolutely therapeutic and relaxing way I can boost my health and wellbeing. For instance, I love to sip a hot cup of Healthy Chef ceremonial grade Matcha tea to start my day because it’s infused with many anti-ageing and body shaping properties – I just take ¼ teaspoon of Matcha powder and add hot water.
At times when my digestion plays up or when I want better sleep, I like to take Healthy Chef Relax + Renew tea because it contains organic lavender buds and peppermint that have calming effects on the nervous and digestive systems. The addition of organic lemon balm creates a sedative effect, which helps me get a more restful night’s sleep.
THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF TEA
What I also love about tea is that there are different types of blends to suit everyone’s tastebuds, along with various health and wellbeing benefits. This is why I have specifically designed The Healthy Chef Organic Tea Collection – I wanted to create a range of teas that nourish and benefit the mind, body and overall wellbeing. Read on to find out the top benefits of drinking tea:
1. TEA IS ANTI-AGEING
Tea such as Healthy Chef Nourish + Glow is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C helping to keep skin firm and glowing because it’s made from a unique blend of antioxidant rich rosehip and hibiscus flowers, combined with superfood berries and pomegranates. Rosehip in particular, is bursting with vitamin C and phytonutrients, which provide extra strength and structure to your skin, while also helping to promote elasticity and firmness.
Also high in antioxidants are ceremonial grade Matcha tea and the Healthy Chef Uplifting Zen tea, which assist in alkalising and detoxifying the blood. High antioxidant rich foods such as Matcha green tea are believed to slow down the ageing process by preventing oxidation, inhibiting mutation of DNA and helping to restore damaged DNA.
2. TEA IS BODY-SHAPING
Green tea has also been known to support weight management due to its ability to assist with fat oxidation. Matcha tea is an excellent source of EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate), with levels significantly higher than regular green tea. EGCG is a molecule with naturally has metabolism boosting and thermogenic affects in the body, meaning it gently supports weight loss.
According to the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, the green tea has a higher total antioxidant capacity than black tea and higher antioxidant activity than vegetables such as garlic, kale, spinach and brussels sprouts.
The Healthy Chef Green Goddess tea has been specifically designed with body shaping in mind as it combines the qualities of dark and green teas, giving it a potent effect on boosting metabolism, assisting the body to burn more fat. Studies have shown that drinking 2 cups of unsweetened tea daily supports sustained weight loss.
3. TEA DE-STRESSES AND RELAXES THE BODY
This is the very reason why I absolutely love Relax + Renew. Drinking this tea helps reduce stress, calms the nerves and balances your mind while nurturing the spirit. The Healthy Chef Gingersnap Chai has a similar effect on the body as it contains potent herbs and spices, such as ginger, that are anti-inflammatory.
In natural medicine, ginger is used as a detoxifying and antiviral herb that stimulates circulation and along with cinnamon also encourage movement through the gastrointestinal system. Chai spices such as cinnamon and ginger have been shown to balance hormones and alleviate pain associated with premenstrual syndrome. Honey bush tea is naturally caffeine free and contains no tannins so it’s clean and uplifting when you drink it. Honey bush is also high in antioxidants and helps support digestive health.
4. TEA IS GREAT FOR DIGESTION
Lemon Delicious is the perfect digestive tea made with organic lemongrass, lemon verbena, lemon myrtle, lemon balm, and lemon zest with a hint of ginger.
This is why I have created Healthy Chef Lemon Delicious. It also contains ginger, which is anti-inflammatory and relieves congestion. When combined with lemon, they stimulate proper digestion. Lemongrass is also known to relieve nausea and help with digestion. Drinking a cup after a large meal will take away that full feeling and aid in digesting food. It also helps to relieve constipation, keeping the bowels working properly, leaving you feeling healthy and energetic.
