How To Make A Healthy Hot Chocolate

This is a recipe from my cookbook Purely Delicious. I'm absolutely in love with hot chocolate. Hot chocolate that's warm and nourishing and full of heart healthy goodness. This hot chocolate is not only super delicious, it contains a whole host of superfoods that will make you feel amazing! I always add a pinch of cinnamon which aids digestion supports insulin’s ability to metabolise blood sugar.
3 cups milk - your choice of organic full cream, almond, coconut, or organic brown rice milk
2 generous tablespoons cacao or Healthy Chef Naked Chocolat
1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon maca powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean extract
1 teaspoon raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar or stevia (optional)
pinch sea salt
pinch of ground ginger
- Combine milk, cacao, cinnamon, maca, ginger, vanilla and sweetener if using into a small pot.
- Heat gently.
- Pour into 2 serving mugs and enjoy.
- Garnish with a stick of cinnamon and enjoy.
Notes and Inspiration
Blend cooled chocolate milk with 1/4 avocado and healthy chef protein for a delicious quick and healthy breakfast.
Make iced chocolate by cooling this blend and shaking with lots of ice.
Pour over a glass filled with ice and enjoy.
