Introducing The Healthy Chef Turmeric Latte

Article title image

Looking for a delicious drink to fight inflammation, boost immunity and support digestion?

Turmeric Latte or “golden milk/turmeric milk” is the ultimate blend of organic turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and wild vanilla bean with incredible anti-inflammatory properties, which means this soothing elixir is really good for you!

Turmeric Latte is my absolute favourite drink other than a hot tea. It's comforting, relaxing, and soothing, especially if you're highly stressed like me! Turmeric Latte is also extremely nutritious and is rich in antioxidants to help heal and nourish my digestive and immune system.

Traditionally, turmeric milk comes from Ayurvedic practices and holistic medicine in Indian cultures. This healing blend is used to help anything from sore throats, colds, flu, as well as digestive and inflammation issues.

WHY I DESIGNED THE HEALTHY CHEF ORGANIC TURMERIC LATTE

When I was a little girl, my Great Aunt used to give me warm cups of milk in the evening, which was subtly spiced with a little cinnamon and vanilla, and then enriched with a knob of butter and a spoonful of honey. It was incredibly delicious and nourishing and would help me sleep better.

Today, I have adapted this much-loved childhood drink in my Turmeric Latte.  Turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla bean are four of the superfoods I absolutely adore and are the key ingredients in this incredibly healing drink. I also add a pinch of black pepper - as the inclusion of black pepper combined with turmeric enhances the absorption of the antioxidant, curcumin.

Curcumin is the potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory polyphenol found in turmeric and the richer and darker the turmeric, the more curcumin it contains.

WHEN TO ENJOY HEALTHY CHEF TURMERIC LATTE?

My favourite time to enjoy a Turmeric Latte is when I need to drink something comforting and nourishing. I like to have it hot with coconut milk or homemade almond + macadamia milk, and then I dust it with cinnamon before serving. I also sweeten it with a little raw honey.  As a night time treat, I will also add a knob of ghee (clarified butter) which makes my milk rich and creamy as it enhances the absorption of the antioxidants in this blend.

Most evenings I still continue my childhood ritual of having this restorative drink, which is full of magnesium to help calm my nervous system, and other anti-inflammatory ingredients to help me rest and recover.

For breakfast, I add 1/2 teaspoon of Healthy Chef Turmeric Latte into my oatmeal porridge made with creamy coconut milk. I then drizzle this delicious dish with black tahini and top it with chunks of banana before devouring. I also love to add Turmeric Latte into my morning breakfast smoothie, blended with banana, almond milk and a spoonful of Healthy Chef Protein.

Turmeric + Ginger are two superfoods I love that are contained in my Turmeric Latte. These ingredients have been linked to the management of inflammatory conditions.

WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT IT:

Turmeric contains loads of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that make it very healing to the body. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, responsible for giving turmeric its distinct yellow colouring, and possesses an impressive list of health properties. Turmeric has been linked to the management of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, asthma, eczema and inflammatory bowel disease.

Cinnamon improves insulin’s efficiency, which helps regulate blood sugar levels. Cinnamon can also help boost brain activity.

Ginger is used as a potent detoxifying and antiviral herb that helps the body get rid of toxins, stimulate circulation and boost your immune system. It is regarded as a natural antibiotic for the body and helps to reduce congestion and mucus production.

Vanilla Bean from Madagascar is organically grown then ground  into the purest fragrant powder available. Vanilla helps relax the nervous system and reduce inflammation. It is rich in antioxidants and also enhances mental performance.

Black Pepper improves digestion and has antioxidant and antibacterial effects. It also enhances absorption of curcumin, the powerful antioxidant found in turmeric.

+ TURMERIC IS ANTI-AGEING

Curcumin, the potent antioxidant found in turmeric that gives it its yellow colour, has been linked to the management of inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, asthma, eczema and inflammatory bowel disease.

According to a study published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition, turmeric and curcumin have shown potential to prevent DNA damage and help DNA repair. That's good news for preventing disease and slowing down the ageing process.

+ TURMERIC IS IMMUNE-BOOSTING

Because turmeric has high antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties, it assists in reducing the symptoms of cold and flu. Researchers at George Mason University have found that turmeric shows promise in combating certain viruses as curcumin strongly down-regulates levels of extracellular infectious viruses.

+ TURMERIC IS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

Traditionally, turmeric has been used to aid in the treatment of stomach ulcers and reducing inflammation in people with arthritis and colitis. According to numerous studies, curcumin, the main ingredient in turmeric, has proven to have anti-inflammatory effects, many of which may have the potential to aid in the treatment of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, arthritis, Chron’s disease and cardiovascular disease.

+ TURMERIC IS BEAUTY-BOOSTING

Its anti-inflammatory properties mean it can help to reduce redness and skin irritation, while its anti-bacterial qualities can make it great for blemishes and acne.

+ TURMERIC CAN ALLEVIATE MENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS

Turmeric's active compound, curcumin, contains powerful anti- inflammatory ingredients and antioxidants that can boost your body's natural detoxification process and alleviate symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and muscle aches.

Make a warm cup of turmeric milk every night before bed. Combine 1/2 teaspoon Healthy Chef Turmeric Latte with 1 cup of drinking coconut or almond milk and raw honey to sweeten. Add a little knob of cultured butter or ghee and stir through before drinking.

WHAT ELSE IS IN THE HEALTHY CHEF TURMERIC LATTE?

Unlike other turmeric lattes that contain milk powders,  sugar and inferior ingredients, Healthy Chef Turmeric latte contains only pure, honest Australian Certified Organic ingredients that make up a truly exceptional Ayurvedic blend - organic turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and wild vanilla bean with a delicate pinch of black pepper. More importantly, it contains a more potent form of curcumin, which can be seen by the darker, more pigmented turmeric powder used in my blend. In addition to turmeric, the below ingredients enhance the flavour of this powerful ingredient, as well as its health benefits:
